Particularly positive was the response of the students from the 4th Vocational High School of Piraeus and the 2nd Afternoon Vocational High School of Piraeus, who participated in the educational trip sponsored by Aegean Speed Lines, on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, on the vessel SpeedRunner III, during the Piraeus-Milos-Piraeus route.

The 65 students of the two high schools and their professors, met the IMO Ambassador and Chair of Eugenides Foundation Mr. Leonidas Dimitriadis-Evgenidis at sea and discussed the opportunities offered by the marine and maritime professions, the necessity of obtaining adequate knowledge of Information Technology and Automation, the need to obtain strong foundations in science, and discussed the needs and concerns of the students about their future and their education.

During the trip the students had the opportunity to discuss with AegeanSpeed Lines staff, to see the ship’s bridge and engine room and to closely observe the seafarer profession.

Mr. Leonidas Dimitriadis-Evgenidis also pointed out that such opportunities should be available more often to the students attending the marine sector of Vocational High Schools in order to familiarize themselves with the sea and their future occupation.
