In April 2021, Isalos.net organized under the auspices of the Eugenides Foundation, five “Choosing a career in Shipping” workshops, with main subject the first educational trip of the Merchant Marine Academies first-year students. The IMO Goodwill Maritime Ambassador in Greece and President of the Eugenides Foundation, Mr. Leonidas Dimitriadis-Evgenidis attended all five workshops and talked extensively about the position of Greek shipping in the world economy and trade and demonstrated the importance of regulation and implementation of the new environmental regulations.
Mr. Leonidas Dimitriadis-Evgenidis welcomed the students to the maritime profession and emphasized that the time of their studies is an important opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills. Referring to the importance of lifelong learning, he stressed that the seafaring profession is a passport to a career at sea, with great responsibilities and challenges, which requires continuous update on new technologies, as well as leadership skills.
