On Tuesday, June 22, 2021, the MBA in Shipping of the University of the Aegean, an English-language postgraduate program, organized the seminar “Strategies for Leadership in Shipping: The Greek paradigm”.

The IMO Goodwill Maritime Ambassador in Greece and President of the Eugenides Foundation Mr. Leonidas Dimitriadis-Evgenidis was one of the keynote speakers and Professor Seraphim Kapros coordinated the seminar. Mr. Dimitriadis-Evgenidis is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Postgraduate Program.

Mr. Leonidas Dimitriadis-Evgenidis referred to the position of Greek shipping in the world economy and trade and spoke extensively about the importance of the IMO in the proper regulation and implementation of new environmental regulations.

He also mentioned the new skills required of tomorrow’s shipping executives, underlining EU support through the European Program SkillSea. The Eugenides Foundation is responsible for developing the broad guidelines of the Maritime Skills Strategy Framework.

Furthermore, he underlined that leadership is the key skill needed for all members of an organization. Finally, Mr. Dimitriadis-Evgenidis stressed that young students must invest in knowledge, skills and “cultivate” team spirit, which is a vital element of a leading personality.
