ΙΜΟ Ambassador address to the graduates of the Merchant Marine Academy of Michaniona

On Friday, July 13, 2018, the Ambassador of the International Maritime Organization in Greece and the President of the Eugenides Foundation, Leonidas Dimitriadis-Evgenidis, attended the inauguration of the graduates of the School of Engineering of the Merchant Marine Academy of Macedonia. The inauguration took place at the renovated facilities of the Academy in Michaniona.

In his address to the graduates, Mr. Dimitriadis-Evgenidis was encouraging for the next day of their careers. He said that the world of shipping offers many interesting career opportunities and that professions at sea offer immediate professional placement with prospects. He highlighted the importance, for the future of the industry, of properly informing and attracting young people to the marine and maritime professions, and stressed that the International Maritime Organization has given particular attention to this issue.

To conclude, Mr. Dimitriadis-Evgenidis referred to the work of the Eugenides Foundation. Specifically, he mentioned: “The Eugenides Foundation is a long-standing ally of public maritime education and offers students and educators valuable support in these difficult times, through educational books and infrastructure works in regional Merchant Marine Academies”
