The 9th Slide2Open Shipping Finance Conference was held in Athens, providing a clear strategic roadmap for the shipping industry in 2026.

On 4 March 2026, in a packed auditorium at the InterContinental Athens, he conference was officially opened by its organizer, Ms. Despina Travlou, together with the IMO Maritime Goodwill Ambassador in Greece.

In his address, Mr. Leonidas Dimitriadis-Evgenidis underscored the vital role of the IMO in global shipping, emphasizing that the Organization’s effectiveness lies not only in the enforcement of regulations, but also in the fundamental principles that make it both effective and indispensable. He highlighted a vision of shipping that remains global, reliable, and technically robust, with the IMO leading the transition.
