On Monday, October 14, 2019, an educational field trip onboard the vessel Speedrunner III was organized for two vocational high schools. The field trip was an initiative of the IMO Ambassador to Greece and was sponsored by Aegean Speed Lines with the vessel Speedrunner III, on the route Piraeus-Sifnos-Piraeus.

Students and professors of the 4th Vocational High School and the 2nd Afternoon Vocational High School of Piraeus had the opportunity to meet the IMO Ambassador of Greece, Mr. Leonidas Dimitriadis-Evgenidis, at sea and exchange views on the reasons they chose the maritime profession, the need for adequate knowledge and skills in Information Technology and Automation, and the importance of the International Maritime Organization for their training and certification, and for environmental protection and ship safety.

The students had the opportunity to visit the ship’s bridge and engine room with the guidance of the Aegean Speed Lines crew.

Mr. Leonidas Dimitriadis-Evgenidis believes that such initiatives are necessary in order to help the students become familiar with circumstances onboard.
