Piraeus | Open Seas
The event “Piraeus – Open Seas” was successfully held on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PCCI), as part of the “Sea Days 2026”, the city’s major celebration dedicated to shipping, culture, and the sea.
The event brought together distinguished representatives from government, the maritime community, the business sector, and academia, highlighting Piraeus as an international hub for dialogue and development in the shipping industry of the future.
A highlight of the event was the participation of Leonidas Dimitriadis-Evgenidis, IMO Maritime Goodwill Ambassador. In his address, he emphasized the strategic importance of Greek shipping to the global economy, as well as the need for the sector to adapt to evolving international demands.
He further underlined the pivotal role of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) as the global body shaping the regulatory framework of international shipping, establishing rules for safety, environmental protection, and sustainable development. Through this framework, the smooth functioning of global trade is ensured, while supporting the transition of the industry toward a greener and more technologically advanced future.
