On April 17, 2024, the Institute of Foreign Affairs, The Council for International Relations – Greece, and the Department of Maritime Studies at the University of Piraeus co-organized the 1st Maritime Security Conference entitled “The Dimensions of Maritime Security and Their Role in Freedom of Navigation”
On Monday, April 15, 2024, a conference entitled “Empowering Gen Z – Blue Economy and Ocean-related careers” was organized by Isalos.net under the auspices of the Our Ocean Conference and the Our Ocean Youth Leadership Summit at the Eugenides Foundation Amphitheater.
Another successful event was held within the framework of the established day event entitled “I Choose Shipping”, of the students of the Merchant Marine Academies with the representatives of the shipping community. The event took place on April 13, 2024, on board the Eugenides Group’s passenger vessel ‘Anemos’, at the port of Piraeus.
The President of the Eugenides Foundation and IMO Goodwill Ambassador, Leonidas Dimitriadis Evgenidis, attended the workshop on the Regulation for the Safe Electrification, Electric Charging, Berthing, Surveys and Certification of Electric and Hybrid Ships, organized by the General Secretariat of Shipping and Ports and the Directorate of Studies and Constructions of the Ministry of Shipping and Insular Policy.
The Ministry of Shipping and Insular Policy, the intergovernmental organization “Union for the Mediterranean” and the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the European Union co-organized a two-day conference on February 19 and 20, 2024 at the Eugenides Foundation.
The Goodwill Ambassador of the IMO in Greece, Mr. Leonidas Dimitriadis-Evgenidis participated in the WMU-GOI BUGWRIGHT2 FORUM 2024 entitled “Overcoming Regulatory Barriers for Service Robotics in an Ocean Industry” on February 16, 2024, at the facilities of the Danaos Research Centre.
The Goodwill Maritime Ambassador of the IMO in Greece Mr. Leonidas Dimitriadis Evgenidis participated remotely in the Seafarers Mental Health and Wellbeing Conference entitled “It’s ok not to be ok”, which was organized by the ESG Shipping Awards on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Athens.
The President of the Eugenides Foundation and IMO Goodwill Maritime Ambassador in Greece, Mr. Leonidas Dimitriadis-Evgenidis, participated in the 7th “SLIDE2OPEN SHIPPING FINANCE 2024” conference, discussing with distinguished guests the sustainability of the shipping industry, with a view to balancing economic development in relation to environmental responsibility.
Mr. Leonidas Dimitriadis-Evgenidis was appointed Goodwill Maritime Ambassador of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) representing Greece, in May 2018. This year, he was re-elected and will continue his activities for another two years, (one 2-year appointment as IMO Maritime Ambassador and three 2-year appointments as IMO Goodwill Maritime Ambassador) offering the young men and women of our country the chance to get to know and “embrace” the maritime profession, which is linked to our history and tradition.
On the initiative of the IMO Goodwill Ambassador to Greece, Mr. Leonidas Dimitriadis-Evgenidis, and in celebration of the IMO’s World Maritime Day, Isalos.net organized a conference entitled “MARPOL at 50 – Our commitment goes on” on Monday 13 November 2023 at the Planetarium of the Eugenides Foundation, in cooperation with the British and Norwegian Embassies in Athens.
